How the AI tutor works
- Hints, not answers. The tutor nudges you toward the next step instead of handing you the solution.
- Answers are checked by software. Whether your answer is right is decided by checking software (math, units and significant figures), not by the AI.
- It can still make mistakes. If a hint seems off, trust your textbook and instructor.
- Practice only. It only helps with the problem on your screen and declines graded work.
- Your chat text is processed by Anthropic to write replies. See the Privacy Policy.
- Photos of your work. You can snap or upload a photo of your written work, and the tutor points you to the first step that looks wrong, with a question, not the fix. The photo is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) only to write that one reply. We don't store it: your chat keeps just a note that you sent a photo. No one else sees it, not our staff, not a parent, not your instructor. Photos are off during the starting check and mock exams. Please photograph only your work on the problem on screen (no faces, names or graded papers).
- Practice from your class materials. You can upload a review sheet, study guide, syllabus or practice exam your instructor shared (a PDF or photos). The AI only reads it to see which of our topics it covers and how much; it doesn't solve or answer anything in it, and your practice still comes from our own problems, checked by software. If the file looks like graded work (an assignment, quiz or exam to turn in), it declines. The file is sent to Anthropic only for that one reading. We don't keep it: we save just the topics found, the file names, the page count and a short title. No one else sees your upload, not our staff, not a parent, not your instructor. Topics that we don't cover yet are counted without your name so we know which problems to add.
- Talking instead of typing. Where your browser supports it, the microphone button turns what you say into text in the message box, so you can check and edit it before sending. The speech is turned into text by your browser or phone's own speech service (for example Google or Apple), not by us; we only receive the text you send.
